How To Disassemble a Precor Elliptical?

Precor elliptical machine is an exercise machine that simulates the natural movement of running while still allowing the user to control their own speed and stride length.

However, Precor ellipticals are not built to last forever.

They need to be taken care of and maintained well so they can last for a longer period of time. Today’s article will show you how to disassemble a precor elliptical and what you should do before you start disassembling it.

Precor elliptical machines are great cardio equipment that you can use to improve your cardiovascular health, lose weight, and get in shape.

Disassembling it is not an easy task. You need to be careful when you are doing the job.

There are many reasons why you might want to disassemble the machine like:

  1. You want to check the parts for wear and tear.
  2. You want to replace some parts because they are damaged or broken.
  3. You want to see if there is any way for you to make it work better.

And also in order to move a Precor elliptical, you would want to dismantle it first.

Taking a Precor elliptical machine apart for moving will save you so much time and energy and make it much easier to handle the awkward shape of the cross trainer.

Basically you are taking the pedals and handlebars apart from the main base of the Precor machine using a wrench and screwdriver so that you have the frame as an entity and the handles with the foot pedals as a separate one.

Next, you want to remove any attached cables from the back of your Precor console and carefully lay them out on a flat surface or table so that they don’t get tangled up with anything else while moving your machine.

Just make sure to lubricate your Precor elliptical moving parts during the process of assembling it back together.

Step 1: Remove the handlebars

The first step is to remove the from the Precor moving arms, this can usually be done with a Phillips head screwdriver and double ended wrench.

After you remove the cap using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the lower handlebars using the 5 mm hex key and double-ended wrench.

You can find a screw on the front or side of each arm, so unscrew each one and place them safely in your plastic bag.

Next, remove both Moving arms with an adjustable wrench and 5mm Allen wrench for the lower link arm.

Step 2: Remove the console

Unscrew the four button head screws to remove the display console using the ⁵₃₂-inch hex key.

Next, remove the attached three cables to the  back of the console and take it off the console bracket.

Tape the wires down to the body of the elliptical so they don’t fall inside the unit. Put the screws in the plastic bag and set them aside.

Step 3: Remove the arms

You will need to take the 4 bolts out of each of the arm stabilizers where they meet the base frame under the ramp.

There will be a wire in the right arm. It looks like an Ethernet cable. Unplug that and be careful not to pinch or cut it.

If your goal is to move your elliptical, then you can easily move it through any door this far.

However, if you just want to take it apart for another reason, then follow along the final step.

Step 4: Remove the pedals

Next, find the screws that hold the foot pedal onto the machine. It will have a head that is either flat or round, with a slot on each side. Remove those screws and remove the pedal.

In some cases, there may be screws holding both pedals onto your machine. You will find them similarly on each side of your machine’s base where they were attached to it when you first bought it in its package (usually underneath).

Once you’ve disassembled any removable parts from your elliptical, you are now left with the main base of your precor elliptical as one large item.

Make sure that you have collected all of the nuts and bolts and put them in a clear plastic bag so you can easily reattach once moved.

Conclusion

Precor elliptical machines are great cardio equipment that you can use to improve your cardiovascular health, lose weight, and get in shape.

With all the aforementioned information, you will be willing to know how to disassemble Precor elliptical machine and safely transport it to its new location.
