The first step to turn on the Peloton tread is to,

1. Plug in the power cord

Connect the treadmill power cord into the power jack located on the back of your Peloton tread, just above the rear stabilizer.

Then, plug the power supply into the wall outlet and look for the LED light to turn green, indicating it’s connected correctly.

2. Turn on the power button

The next step is to turn on your Peloton tread by pressing the power button at the back of the touchscreen.

3. Attach the safety key into place

Before you can start using your Peloton treadmill, make sure your Safety key is already in place, as it is necessary to turn on the treadmill.

The key usually has a clip that allows you to attach the key to your activewear for safety purposes.

If the safety key is detached, the slat belt will immediately stop moving and the tread will lock.

To start running the tread, reattach the Safety Key. Insert the magnet end into the gap under the center button, run the cord through the groove around the center button, and place the clip next to the magnet.

Do not start the tread before stepping onto the running surface. Step onto it from the rear, using handrails for balance. Avoid leaning in and putting your full weight on the handrails.

Press the CenterButton to wake the tread.

Next, you need to adjust the Peloton parameters.

To control the Peloton tread, there are multiple ways to increase and decrease speed and incline.

The first way, which you will likely use most, is to rotate the knobs on either side.

The left knob controls incline and the right knob controls speed. It takes a bit of practice to get used to how much you need the knobs to rotate to get to the speed or incline desired, but you will get more accurate with practice.

Turn the speed knob located on the right side forward to increase speed in increments of 0.1 mph. Turn it backward to decrease the speed.

Turn the incline knob on the left side of the tread forward to increase incline in increments of 0.5 percent grade. Turn the knob backward to lower the incline level.

How to use peloton screen?

The Peloton Tread gives you a lot of metrics on its screen. On the left is your current incline percentage, with the instructor’s suggested incline range above it.

Similarly, on the right side is your current speed in miles-per-hour, with the suggested speed range. You can hide these suggestions if you want, by pressing the arrow next to them. Between these two (current incline and speed), you can see your current mile pace as well as your total wattage output(This is a combination of your speed and incline level).

Your rank on the leaderboard is by total wattage output.

Before pairing the Heart Rate Band with the device, ensure the Heart Rate Band is properly fastened around the forearm, snug enough to stay put, but not so tight that it hurts or cuts off circulation.
