There are multiple reasons why a Life Fitness bike won’t turn on and to stop functioning unexpectedly.

The problem might be something you can fix yourself, ranging from simple possibilities such as a bad battery, power supply problems, the installation does not meet machine electrical power requirements, loose or incorrect wire connections.

The following troubleshooting guides will help you identify and fix your exercise bike screen issues and get back to riding again.

Life Fitness Bike Won’t Turn On– Troubleshooting Guides

1. Check the battery voltage

If your Life Fitness recumbent bike won’t turn on when you pedal, you would need to test the voltage of the battery first. It should be 5.8 to 6.3 VDC.

If the batteries are getting voltagem, then probably there is an issue with the console. But, if there’s no voltage in the batteries, then they are most likely bad and need replacement.

To replace the batteries, Life Fitness bike requires a P/N 6V battery.

All you need is a T25 Torx Driver and Phillips Screwdriver in order to successfully go through the battery replacement process.

Using a Phillips screwdriver, start by removing the right side and bottom covers to get access to the battery compartment. Disconnect the red and black wires from the Life Fitness battery.

Next, Remove the two screws that are securing the battery to the drive module, and install the new batteries in reverse order.

Make sure they are facing the right direction and that the connections are clean, and free of damage.

2. Power cycle Life Fitness bike

If your Life Fitness bike screen monitor is frozen and unresponsive, one of the first thing you should do is reboot the machine.

This is a simple turn off and turn on process to help resolve any internal glitches that may be keeping the screen from working.

To power cycle Life Fitness bike, follow the instructions below:

First, unplug the power cable from the outlet to power off the Life Fitness bike and wait for 30 seconds.

Next, plug the cord back in and power on the machine, then check if the problem is still there.

3. Check the power cord

The next troubleshooting step is to unplug the machine from the outlet to check the power cord for any damage.

Check the power cable if it is connected firmly to both the wall outlet and to the machine base.

As Life Fitness exercise bikes come with small electric bricks that connect to the main power cable, you need to make sure this brick is fully plugged into the power cord from both ends.

If the cord has been damaged, then you may need to replace it with a new one.

4. Check the electrical power requirements

Life Fitness exercise bikes have specific power requirements for them to operate without any trouble. Make certain the machine is plugged into an electric outlet that properly delivers its power requirements.

The power requirements of a Life Fitness bike are: 115 volt, 15 amp, dedicated circuit that is used for a single appliance.

5. Check the power outlet

A Life Fitness bike screen won’t turn on if there happens to be any loose connection. Loose connection usually occurs if the power cable is not properly plugged into an outlet, or the outlet doesn’t provide enough power to run the machine.

Inspect the electrical outlet to see if it has power by plugging a small appliance into it to see if it works.

If the appliance doesn’t power, reset the house circuit breaker to restore power to the outlet.

If the equipment is still not receiving power, plug the bike to another outlet. Make sure not to use a power strip, power adaptor, or an extension cord.

6. Check the console wires connections

A Life Fitness bike touch screen is an important part of exercising safely. You can use it to track your progress while exercising.

If there is an issue with the touch screen wires or they are not fully connected, your Life Fitness bike won’t work.

Start off by checking the connections at the back of the touchscreen panel. Apply light pressure to make sure these wire connectors are fully connected.

Next, unplug the machine from the outlet, and refer to your Life Fitness bike owner’s manual for the assembly instructions to identify how to access the main wire.

With the main wire now accessible, press the wire connectors together to make sure they’re properly connected. Ensure that all the connecting wires aren’t damaged or disconnected.

Next, check the wires pins. These pins sit inside the plastic casing that connects the wire to the display screen. Make certain none of the pins have been broken or bent.

If a bent pin is found, carefully bend it back into place.

Identify and check any pinch points the wire may have. Pinch points are any place the wire moves between two parts.

If any of the wires are worn or damaged anywhere, submit a customer service request about how to replace them.

If no damage was found, reconnect the main wire and assemble everything back in. Plug your machine back in and check if the screen works now.

Final Tip

If none of the above fixes work, then you need to contact the Life Fitness Member Support Team. They will help you diagnose the problem and offer solutions.

If your equipment is still under warranty, the manufacturer may cover the cost to repair your machine.

However, if you attempt to fix the bike yourself while it is under warranty, then you may void the warranty.

In this case, only perform the troubleshooting tips recommended by your manufacturer.
