Doing a reset to the treadmill screen might help resolve the touch screen issue.

Here is how to reset Life Fitness treadmill screen:

  1. Start by plugging your treadmill into a power outlet, then locate the reset button on the front of the treadmill frame near the power cord.
  2. Next, switch the power button into Reset position after you insert the safety key into place. This will turn the machine on and then initiate a reset instantly.

3. Check wires connections

If your tread touch screen doesn’t work, there could be a wiring issue.

Unplug the unit from the outlet before removing the protective covers. Refer to your owner’s manual for the assembly instructions to identify how to access the main wire.

With the main wire now accessible, press the wire connectors together to make sure they’re properly connected. Ensure that all the connecting wires aren’t damaged or disconnected.

Next, check the wires pins. These pins sit inside the plastic casing that connects the wire to the display screen. Make certain none of the pins have been broken or bent.

If a bent pin is found, carefully bend it back into place.

Identify and check any pinch points the wire may have. Pinch points are any place the wire moves between two parts.

If any of the wires are worn or damaged anywhere, submit a customer service request about how to replace them.

If no damage was found, reconnect the main wire and assemble everything back in. Plug your machine back in and check if the console works now.

4. Check The Reed Switch

If Life Fitness touch screen is still not functioning properly, you need to check its reed switch.

What you are going to do is remove the treadmill motor hood cover, then inspect and regulate the reed switch using a robust Phillips screwdriver.

The reed switch is mounted on the frame next to the front roller pulley.

To reduce the risk of electrical shock or unsupervised usage of the equipment, always unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and place it in a secure location, and wait 5 minutes before going through this process.

Once you have access to the reed switch, there is going to be a magnet glued into the front roller pulley. Check the distance between the switch and the magnet.

If the reed switch seems too close to the magnet, then it needs to be adjusted.

To adjust the reed switch, first loosen the screw attaining the reed switch without removing it, then move the tip manually until you successfully lengthen the distance between the magnet and the switch of ⅛ inch.

When the reed switch is correctly adjusted, make sure it is pointing directly at the magnet, then assemble the treadmill back together.

5. Check the outlet

If the screen on your treadmill is not functioning, always check if your power cable is connected properly to both the electrical outlet and the Treadmill’s deck.

A Life Fitness Treadmill screen won’t function properly if there is a loose connection. The loose connection usually occurs if the Life Fitness power cable is not properly plugged into an electric outlet or the power cable is not properly connected to the power brick.

Next, make sure that the tread is plugged into an outlet that meets its power requirements.

The power requirements are: 120V, 60Hz, 12A dedicated circuit that is used for a single appliance.

Also make certain that the machine is not plugged into a GFCI outlet.

6. Check the power cord

If the electrical outlet works fine and the outlet meets the power requirements of your treadmill, unplug the machine to inspect the power cord.

Make sure the cord is connected properly to both the electrical outlet and the Tread’s deck.

Next, check all wires between the power cord connection and the motor control board. Reconnect any loose wires and repair any broken ones.

If the cord has been damaged then you may need to replace it with a new one.
